Victory is Unique

Victory Christian College is a Prep to Year 10 College, which caters for individual needs and interests within a caring and disciplined environment. We provide a strong academic and diverse curriculum, which engages students and challenges them to achieve their best. At Victory, students are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with God and to understand that through this relationship, they have a life filled with purpose and promise.

Student Leadership is a Priority

Developing young leaders is an important part of the ethos at Victory. Students are provided with many opportunities to build leadership skills in both primary and secondary areas. We have an active Student Representative Council, Primary and Secondary House Captains and Senior School Captains. Our students are given a range of leadership opportunities from representing the College at major community events to leading weekly assemblies or speaking at our church and chapel services. Primary and Secondary students involved in leadership roles attend state organised leadership development days each year, and from 2009, senior school leaders will participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Transition and Pathways

A comprehensive transition process is in place to support students commencing at the College, moving from primary to secondary or exiting to commence Year Eleven or Pre-Apprenticeship studies.
Younger students are involved in an extended orientation and getting ready for school program.
Our own Grade Six students participate in a range of activities to assist with their transition into the secondary school environment, which is greatly assisted by their familiarity with the staff and learning environment. New students commencing Year Seven attend information sessions and orientation days, with a Year Seven Orientation Camp held early in Term One to help complete their transition.
Year Ten students undertake a broad pathways preparation program, which includes work experience, investigating career pathways and options, and participating in Year Eleven transition days.
‘Come and Try Days’ are open to any families who are considering sending their children to Victory.

College History

Victory Christian College is a ministry expression of History Makers Church (formerly known as Victory Church), the Apostolic Church in Bendigo.  The school and land are owned by, and operated under the direction of, the Apostolic Church Trust through the History Makers Church eldership.  The College was opened in 1995 to provide an opportunity for people of all denominations to place their children in a Christian school, under the covering of History Makers Church.Through it’s Committee of Management structure and the employment of Christian teachers from a variety of denominations, the school has ensured that all aspects of school life are available to, and inclusive of, the Christian community.

The Apostolic denomination is a Pentecostal church birthed in the early 20th Century in Wales, through the influence of the Welsh Revival of that time.  History Makers Church is part of that Pentecostal expression in Bendigo and, consequently, the worship and ministry experienced during school life, for example, chapel services, camps, etc. may, at times reflect that expression. The balanced approach to all forms of contemporary ministry, the emphasis on spiritual integrity and the high standards expected of all staff members, visiting chapel speakers and other school personnel allow all Victory Christian College families to feel confident in the Christian environment provided. Victory Christian College respects the many varied expressions of the Body of Christ in this city and trusts that all parents who place their children in the College also respect the uniqueness of History Makers Church and its role in reach Bendigo for Christ.

The College’s aim is to serve the Christian Community in Bendigo and surrounding districts with a message that Jesus forgives, saves, heals and restores.  It is our belief that our young people need to know loving support and discipline as they grow academically and in the knowledge of the Lord.  Students must know that they are loved and accepted whilst they are challenged and disciplined to grow as young Christians.
