VESA Program

Introduction to the Program

Victory Elite Sports Academy (VESA) is dedicated to developing outstanding athletes through a comprehensive and innovative model of learning that equips our students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and values to shape their futures and make meaningful contributions to society. VESA offers a unique opportunity for students to pursue their athletic ambitions while achieving academic excellence.

Our specialist program focuses on developing the 'whole athlete' by incorporating elements such as fitness, sports psychology, mindfulness, and resilience. Athletes are coached and mentored by elite-level professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields. We encourage every student in VESA to strive for excellence by pursuing their passions, embracing new challenges, contributing to the community, and maintaining a positive attitude with the mindset, "I can always try my best no matter what."

Victory Christian College is dedicated to offering continuous guidance, support, and learning opportunities to ensure students achieve both academic and athletic excellence.

Basketball: Intermediate (Year 7/8) and Senior (Year 9/10)

The Victory Elite Sports Academy (VESA) basketball program aims to provide students with quality coaching and development that seeks to extend students' basketball skills. This program is designed for students who are currently performing at a representative or equivalent level and who aspire to play basketball at an elite level. Students participating in this program must exhibit a high degree of self-discipline and demonstrate exemplary behaviour. Participation in the course will involve additional opportunities to engage in interschool events and the intentional honing of personal and leadership skills with the intent to lead others in the chosen discipline. The program is taught in conjunction with Coach Adam Tarr, who has an impressive coaching background, including "best practice" quality coaching, game-specific skill development, and fast-paced practice sessions. Coach Adam is passionate about instilling Basketball Victoria’s culture and core values in all his athletes. He is currently Basketball Victoria’s High Performance Hub Lead Coach and has been the Bendigo Braves NBL 1 Assistant Coach (2022). Enrolment in the program requires an application process and this course is a prerequisite for involvement in senior VESA programs. This pathway subject will be held for two double period sessions a week and is a year-long program. If a student makes a representative side mid-year and meets eligibility requirements, they will be considered for the program.

Entry requirements

All VESA programs have selective entry requirements and require an application prior to commencement. Students must demonstrate diligence in all areas of college life. Places in all programs are limited, and selection will be based on performance, behavior, and an endorsement from a coach.

The delivery of VESA programs will occur during school hours and will be integrated into the timetable. As a result, students will miss other subjects during these periods.

  • Elite Intermediate programs will consist of 4 periods per week (180 minutes).

  • Elite Senior programs will consist of 5 periods per week (225 minutes).

Sponsorship

  • Limited sponsorship opportunities are available for students who meet the specified eligibility criteria. Interested applicants should contact Will Baird directly to discuss potential scholarship options.
