Epsom Campus - FAQs
Please note that the answers below reflect the information available to Victory Christian College as of June 2026. Some information may change as we progress the development of Stage 1, and as the plans for the Epsom Campus are further refined. We will do our best to keep this information up to date.
Epsom Campus First Year - 2026
Why is Victory Christian College opening a Second Campus?
Our Strathdale Campus has grown into a thriving community of over 900 students and is nearing capacity. We decided to open the Epsom Campus to create more opportunities for families in the Bendigo area to become part of the VCC family.
When will the Epsom Campus open?
The Campus will open in Term One, 2026.
How many students will be at the Epsom Campus for the start of 2026?
We will have 200 students enroled at the Epsom Campus at the start of the 2026 school year.
What year levels will be at the Epsom Campus in 2026?
-
Two Prep Classes.
-
One Year 1/2 class.
-
One Year 3/4 class.
-
Two Year 5/6 classes.
-
Two Year 7 classes.
How many students will be in each class?
Epsom Class sizes will be between 23 and 26 students.
What facilities are expected to be completed for the start of the 2026 school year?
-
The main building will have fourteen learning spaces. These include Science, Art, Technology and Food Studies facilities and a multi-purpose space.
-
A large veranda to enable students to play in the shade and move around to all the different buildings undercover.
-
Covered courts with lighting.
-
Outdoor and undercover play spaces.
-
Grass areas to kick the footy and soccer ball.
-
A large car park and designated drop-off/pick-up zone.
-
Upgrades to widen Sargeants Road and add curb and channelling.
Will there be an opportunity for the children starting in 2026 to see the new campus before starting?
As the Epsom Campus will be open at the start of the 2026 school year, students won’t be able to see the new campus before starting. Epsom students will complete their transition days at the Strathdale Campus. We are planning to create some video walk-throughs later in the year to give you sneak peeks of the exciting developments.
Will the kids have an oval to play on for the first year?
As well as designated grassed areas, during 2026, the soccer oval will be flattened and grassed so students can use it during PE at their times. The Ovals will be fully finished in future stages (drainage, seating etc). The College will also use the Epsom Sporting complex, which is 200 meters down the road.
Will before and after-school care be available at Epsom?
Yes, it will. An expression of interest request will be sent to our families once student allocations are completed. The level of before and after school care available will be based on the demand.
Future Stages and Development
How many students will be enrolled when the Epsom Campus is finished?
Within 10 years, we aim to be at 1100 students.
When will future year levels be offered at Epsom?
Additional year levels will be introduced as we construct the new facilities. As at June 2025, our plan to roll out future year levels is as follows:
-
2026 - Prep to Year 7
-
2027 - Adding Year 8
-
2028 - Adding Year 9
-
2029 - Adding Year 10
-
2030 - Adding Year 11
-
2031 - Adding Year 12
-
2033 - Start Quad-Streaming Year 7
-
2036 – 1100 students
How will future development be staged over time?
The master plan has seven stages (with a possibility of an eighth).
New stages will be delivered roughly every two years. In each stage, new state-of-the-art learning spaces will be constructed, enabling new year levels to start. The Soccer Oval, AFL Football Oval, three-court gym and 1400-seat auditorium will be included in the appropriate stages, based on student need and site location.
What foreseeable impact will ongoing construction and development have on Epsom students?
We expect construction to have a minimal impact on students at the Epsom Campus. Victory’s Strathdale campus has managed staged construction since moving to the Kairn Road site in 2009.
New construction is always surrounded by secure fencing and mesh to obscure the view. Our experience shows that once construction starts, students are initially interested, and then after two weeks, they don’t take much notice and aren’t impacted by the construction activity.
Buses and Transport
Will the bus service be available for students at the Epsom Campus?
Yes. Victory bus routes will be updated to transport students to the Epsom Campus.
Important: Places on the Victory Bus service are limited and are not guaranteed. We do our best to accommodate as many students as possible; however, because of demand, there is often a wait list.
Where will the bus stops be for the Epsom Campus students?
Bus routes will be planned around student demand. Later this year (2025), we will send out a request for expressions of interest. Once received, we will use those expressions of interest to plan the bus routes.
Is there a cost for the bus service?
If you are eligible for the Government’s Conveyance Allowance, there is no cost to use Victory’s private bus service. To be eligible, you need to live at least 4.8km from your child’s school.
If you are not eligible for the allowance, the cost to use Victory’s private bus service is $100 per child, per term.
Will there be shuttle buses between campuses?
Yes, there will be buses from the Strathdale Campus to the Epsom Campus, and from the Epsom Campus to the Strathdale Campus each morning and afternoon. Important: The shuttle buses can only be used by families with students at both campuses.
Will I need to do two drop-offs if I have children at both campuses?
If you have children at both campuses, you will only need to drop them off at your nearest campus. Each morning and each afternoon, there will be buses from the Strathdale Campus to the Epsom Campus, and from the Epsom Campus to the Strathdale Campus. Important: The shuttle buses can only be used by families with students at both campuses.
We use the Country Bus Network. Will my child be able to get to the Epsom Campus?
We will pick up students from the Tom Flood Sports Centre and take them to the Epsom Campus. We’ve started conversations with Government coordinators to see if Goornong/Elmore country buses can stop at the Epsom Campus. We don’t know when (or if) this will occur.
Where will I drop off and pick up my child at the Epsom Campus?
The main pick-up and drop-off zone will be accessed via Sargeants Road.
Will traffic lights be installed?
The Midland Hwy/Sargeant’s Rd intersection will be upgraded to a signalised intersection in the coming years; however, there is no requirement to complete this by 2026. We are working with VicRoads to plan the intersection upgrade, which will likely happen in approximately 3 years.
We will also need to upgrade the Station St/Sargeants Rd intersection at some stage. This won’t be signalised.
Staff and Curriculum
Are the teachers experienced or new?
Epsom will be staffed by both new teachers and teachers from our Strathdale campus.
Some current staff will transfer to Epsom, taking their rich experience and their commitment to Victory’s culture. Some staff will teach across both campuses so we can deliver the same learning programs at both campuses.
Victory is being very intentional in replicating the culture we’ve built at Strathdale to our new Epsom Campus.
Will students at Epsom have the same subject options as students at the Strathdale Campus?
Yes. Both campuses will be offering the same core subjects at each year level. Victory Christian College staff are committed to making our learning programs accessible to all students. Staff across both campuses will meet regularly and will teach the same programs.
What subjects will be taught at Epsom for Primary Students?
Primary students at Epsom will study English, Maths, Humanities, Science, Bible, PE, Health, and German. The Junior School (Prep to Year 4) at Epsom will adopt the same instructional techniques and programs that align with a structured literacy approach. This is the same approach that is currently being taught at our Strathdale Campus.
What subjects will be taught at Epsom for Year 7 Students?
Year 7 students at Epsom will study English, Maths, Humanities, Science, Bible, PE, Health, and German. They will also participate in Art and Design, Materials and Systems, Food Studies, German and Digital Literacy. This replicates the extra core subject offerings that are also offered at Strathdale.
For Year 7 students, the Epsom Campus will replicate the Pathway Program, offering subjects within two timetable blocks each week, such as advanced PE, Media, Fibre and Fashion, Advanced Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Trade, Industrial Design, Victory Racing Team – and more!
Tap here to learn more about Victory’s Pathway Program.
Will students need to travel to Strathdale to complete certain subjects?
The variety of rooms planned within stage one ensures most subjects and classes can and will occur onsite at Epsom.
Year seven students may find, depending on the Pathway subjects they choose, that there may be some travelling between campuses when specialised facilities are required. This will include movement from Epsom to Strathdale, and some students travelling from Strathdale to Epsom.
How does the school support students with different learning needs?
Victory Christian College staff are committed to providing learning programs accessible to all students. This includes students with various learning needs. Programs can be tailored and targeted to individual student needs wherever possible.
Will Epsom students be able to take part in the School Production?
Victory Christian College Theatre Productions are a big event each year. Students at Epson and Strathdale will be able to audition and take on roles.
Rehearsals are scheduled after school at Strathdale, so Epsom students will be bussed across for rehearsals with parents and asked to collect children from Strathdale.
Do you offer VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses or school-based apprenticeships/traineeships?
VCE students will select from the same subject choices regardless of which campus they are attending. These options will also include vocational, educational and training courses, and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
One of the benefits of expanding to two campuses is that this will expand our capacity to offer an even wider range of subjects and options at VCE level.
Transitioning Students to the 2026 School Year
Where will the transition days be held for the 2026 Epsom Students?
All transition days (including Preps) will be held at the Strathdale Campus in 2025 to prepare students for Epsom in 2026.
Student Support and Wellbeing
How does the school support different learning needs?
At Victory, we believe that a safe, caring and nurturing environment is essential for students to thrive, academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Our vision for wellbeing is built on being a Christ-centred community, where everyone belongs. We encourage resilience, serving others with compassion, and helping students pursue their God-given purpose.
Will there be Student Support staff on the campus?
Education Support staff will be on-site at Epsom. The number of Education Support staff will be based on student need.
Additionally, we'll have dedicated staff such as Year-Level Coordinators, a Careers Advisor, and other student counsellors who will also be available to support the diverse wellbeing needs of our students.
Will after-school tutoring be available at the Epsom Campus?
Yes. We currently offer after-school tutoring every week for students from Year Three upwards. Epsom students will also have access to the same after-school tutoring opportunities. The tutoring will be held onsite at Epsom with the usual finish time of 4.15pm.
Will senior and junior students be separated?
We will have the Preps and younger primary students downstairs so they're not going up and down stairs every day. At this stage, the plan is to have our secondary Year Sevens upstairs with some Year five-sixes.
Sports and Other Extra-Curricular Activities
What extra-curricular activities will be available to students at the Epsom Campus?
There will be a wide range of extra-curricular activities available in Epsom. All of these are designed to enrich students' experiences and foster their talents.
We have school sports teams that students can try out for. These include AFL, netball, basketball, cricket, athletics, swimming, volleyball, and many more.
Can Epsom students join Victory’s sporting clubs?
Absolutely. Students will be able to join the Victory Basketball and Netball Club. Both are dedicated sports clubs for students passionate about these sports.
Training is currently housed here at Strathdale because of the indoor courts. Epsom students will also be able to join the Victory Racing Team, which is a dynamic team where students can engage in competitive and collaborative racing activities.
We also have the Victory Elite Sports Academy (VESA) programs. These are specialised programs focusing on basketball, strength and conditioning, and soccer. VESA is aimed at students aspiring to excel in their sport and is run by elite coaches in their fields.
Will there be individual instrumental music lessons available at the Epsom campus?
Yes. We have an instrumental music program. We'll be offering a wide range of musical instruments and singing tuition, and these are delivered by a dedicated team of experienced tutors.
Instruments offered by the college include Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Violin. These are conducted during the week in the school day for 30-minutes each session.
What will happen with camps and excursions?
We have an array of excursions and incursions across the year levels to ensure students grow their connections at the primary level between the two Campuses. Where the timetable allows, they will be joined together so they happen at the same time.
At the secondary level, the entire year level incursions and excursions will be combined too, unless they can’t be because of timetabling conflicts.
