Synopsis
School of Rock Youth Edition is a high-energy musical that tells the story of Dewey Finn, a struggling musician who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious school. Discovering his students' hidden musical talents, Dewey inspires them to form a rock band and compete in the Battle of the Bands. Along the way, the students learn the value of teamwork, confidence and being true to themselves. Featuring catchy songs, plenty of laughs and a powerful message about following your passions, School of Rock Youth Edition is an entertaining celebration of music, friendship and self-discovery.
Audition Information.
Auditions for our upcoming school production will take place in Term 4.
Step 1: Video Audition
Any Year 7 – 11 students wishing to be considered for a main role in our 2027 production, must submit a video of themselves singing the audition track below.
Any student wanting a role in the band, please create a short video (30-60 seconds) playing a song of your choice that show cases your skill. Please note, the band is primarily a singing and acting role, playing an instrument is desired but not required..
Video submissions are due by: 16th November. Submission link coming soon.
Note: Students will need to login to the Form using their VCC Username and Password.

Please ensure your video clearly shows and records you singing throughout the performance. Please clearly label your video/s with your name.
Step 2: Call-Back Auditions
Following the review of video submissions, selected students will be invited to attend a call-back audition.
Call-backs will be held during Week 9 of Term 4 on Monday 31st November and Tuesday 1st December, 3:30 – 4:30pm. Invitations and further details will be sent directly to successful students.
We encourage all interested students to audition and look forward to seeing the talent and enthusiasm of our students on display!

Please note that submission of a video audition does not guarantee progression to the call-backstage or entry to the show. Students participating in 2027 Semester 1 Theatre Studies classes will be expected to participate in an ensemble group. Students wishing to be considered for a lead role will need to make themselves available on Monday and Tuesday afternoons for rehearsals during Semester 1, 2027.
